Hotel restaurant at Cheltenham Chase, Gloucester.

My partner and I just wanted a couple of days away to unwind and relax which we achieved. All the spa facilities were working and the treatments were amazing. The staff were helpful and friendly. Dinner on both nights was lovely. It was a shame that the fruit juices for breakfast were too watered down. Also the outdoor space would benefit perhaps from some landscaping to make it more inviting to sit outside. Our room was comfortable and clean. With the spa treatments included it was not the cheapest 2 days away that we have had but we enjoyed our stay, and would consider using Q Hotels again.

Really nice hotel. Family room consisted of two double beds which was nice. Staff were all excellent. Room was very clean and comfortable ( pillows were the weakest part) plenty of tea and coffee. The bar was lovely. The breakfast was excellent. Lots of choice and all nice and fresh. The first day we had breakfast about 8.30 ish and it soon got busy; the next day we were before 8 and it was lovely and quiet. Access to the pool was a brilliant option. Location wise, it was easy to find and on a bus route to Cheltenham. We had a walk around and found a corner shop very close. I would definitely stay again

Really good stay at the Cheltenham Chase. Staff were great. Particularly the man who checked us in and the young man at breakfast. Room and food really good. Overall a great night away.

Just spent 2 nights at this spa hotel, lovely clean hotel, all staff are friendly and helpful, room was spacious, clean and with a very comfortable king size bed, breakfast on both mornings, was delicious and a good selection of food/ drinks, spent two nights in the lounge bar for drinks and even though a bit more expensive, they were worth it. Spa visit was amazing, I booked a Couture Touch, full body massage/ face massage, Laura gave me my spa treatment, she was friendly, professional and I was massaged from head to toe, felt a million dollars and stress free by the time I left that spa/ Thank you. This hotel is the place to stay and has brilliant staff, well managed.

Location of hotel suited us well and our bedroom was adequate and convenient with a walk in shower. Cleanliness was excellent and noise levels quite low. Breakfast selection was very good and staff helpful and friendly. Dinner service was too slow and staff not terribly helpful. (no english mustard available in an English hotel!) Spa treatments felt rather rushed and we were ushered out when treatment was finished.

Always welcoming, always happy to help, and easy to relax here. The staff will go out of their way to ensure you have a great stay and the occasional issues are always handled superbly. I make a point of staying here on my weekly visits.

The hotel itself is well appointed and the pool and spa area is excellent. The breakfast was of very high quality. We also appreciated the EV charging facilities. The 'smart' TV wasn't so smart- on a number of occasions it blacked out, froze or turned off completely. The basin tap leaked over the unit when turned on and the bath mixer permanently trickled. We reported the above to reception when we checked out. Outside the door of one of the rooms in our corridor there was a teabag-it was dry and had clearly been there awhile without attracting the cleaner's attention. Despite these 'niggles' it was a good hotel and we would return again n the future.

Large comfortable room. Has place for luggage, bedside tables, plenty plugs. Comfortable bed slept well and quiet room. Everything was exceptional which is why this was our fourth return.

Comfortable king bed room with bath and separate shower sadly had to change rooms due to boiler noise hum at end of hotel wing. Quieter room at opposite end of hotel with bath shower combo. Good free wifi. Swimming pool a bonus with hot tub and no charge to use unlike some other hotels. Pool temperature also good. Extensive breakfast choices although bacon slightly overcooked. Large car park with EV charging for those that need it. Easy to find and very handy for M5.

Hotel was good but the Spa and Gym looked a bit tired. May be that it was the end of the day and had been a lot of people there. Was slightly better the following morning when I used earlier but feel it needs cleaning more regularly and a bit of TLC

Spa experience and treatments were excellent Breakfast was very good Dinner which was part of the package in the restaurant was poor. The food was overpriced for what we were served The spa package was still good value and can recommend

Firstly we really liked this hotel, great deal on Travelzoo for 2 nights. Room (26) ground floor near reception was excellent.. large, clean , free safe etc. We ate in the restaurant on the first night as our deal included a £70 meal voucher and a bottle of wine. Food was lovely as was the wine. 2nd night we walked to the Toby carvery ( literally a 5 minute walk). We had breakfast in the hotel on both days and it was very nice , great selection.. just a couple of minor issues.. day 1 as said previously pastries run out around 9 so she went without.. morning 2 all 3 coffee machines stopped working ( but were fixed within 30 mins) not a major thing just a niggle. We used the pool both days , towels at the reception , water was warm, jacuzzi sauna and steam were hot and not too crowded , again as previously stated showers need an upgrade and maybe more than 2 sun loungers. Only other niggle was on arrival we had to leave £100 deposit on the credit card.. when leaving was told we owe £6:36 ! When I questioned this I was told this was a service charge but could be removed if I wanted it to be.. yes I did . Apart from the couple of niggles a great hotel and will definitely return.

My partner and i have just returned from Cheltenham Chase hotel and spa on the 1 overnight stay with 50 mins spa treatment, breakfast, cream tea and dinner deal £35.00 per person excluding drinks. First time staying here and it did not disappoint, we have been to Oxford Belfry on few occasions and fancied trying another Q Hotel. I booked via the main booking line - not hotel. I asked for a double bed - we eneded up with a twin room (unfortunately message had not reached hote nor had our dinner booking). Was dealt with very professionallly and efficiently by the reception staff who were all lovely and friendly. Room although twin was large with everything we needed, absolutely spotless as was the whole hotel. It looked as most of the hotel had been refurbe to a high standard. Cream tea was an added bonus and the scones were delicious and again staff very friendly and efficient. Dinner was lovely with a good menu, well cooked and tasty although my partner did say his mushrooms on risotto were slightly overcooked. Staff again very effecient and friendly. Unfortuntely their was quite a wait for any food to appear unsure of why . Beds very very comfortable and the pillows are wonderful. Shower very powerful nd absolutely sparkly clean. Also very quite apart from the doors which were noisy closing and nothing you could do about Breakfsst very very good and again staff very efficient , it is self service but that is fine with us. plenty of choice and hot food. Hot chocoate and cappuchinos serbed in bar also lovely again as were the staff We have a 50 minute massage each and were very relaxed after. The ladies who done our massages were Claire (sorry if I have used wrong spelling of Clare) and Ella. Two very lovely ladies who done their jovs very very well. Thank you ladies Just to say a disretionary charge is added to restaurant bill and on checking out another service charge is added which us a new thing, we declined to pay this. We were not informe of charge in restaurant which may be we should have been. All in all a lovely staff at a spotlessly clean hotel,, with wonderful staff all round a nd great food. We will be back sooner rather than later Thank you everyone

We chose the hotel to enjoy a restful break. Everything about the hotel was as described, great room, good food and quiet and relaxing. One small difficulty on one day was we were unable to return to our room for over 7 hours, we left after breakfast at 9.30am returning at 2. 30, the room had not been made up, Reception just said they prioritise room cleaning for in coming guests who check-in at 3pm , we went to the bar and had tea and returned to our room at 4pm still not made up, we found a cleaner in the corridor and asked her to do it, so we gained access at 4.30. Not ideal when wanting to relax a put your feet up. Clearly the system needs managing better. Other wise a great break.

Lovely hotel , great location for Visiting The Cotswold. lovely staff , very welcoming and very nice rooms and great service .

Hotel superb We had a deluxe room on second floor which was spacious and well stocked. Spa pool facilities excellent. Restaurant food great and special treatment for a birthday. Extremely convenient for the Cotswold and NT houses. Thank you for a wonderful stay

I have just returned from a conference weekend away at the Cheltenham Chase Hotel. The conference staff dealt with all the check in arrangements so I only encountered the restaurant staff who were all amazing. The were some of the friendliest members of staff I have ever spoken to. The food was amazing all weekend and catering for my needs was never too much trouble. Well done!

Great location..bud stops very close to hotel..walks also nearby..good Pool and Gym..helpful staff..lovely evening meal.

Superb stay, we were forced to stay an additional two nights and Andy from Reception managed to secure the necessary room with the minimum of fuss. Restaurant members Omar and Jack epitomised what Customer Service is all about. All three are a credit to your organisation.

On first arrival, the hotel and grounds are stunning. A lovely field out the back of the hotel for dog exercising and dog poo bin were a good start. Things however took a bit of a fall once we got inside. We arrived an hour earlier than check in time (3pm) but knew they had a bar area which we could use with our dog as I had checked ahead. I was greeted by a blond receptionist with what I would describe as a sonewhat welcoming tone which went downhill further when my husband followed with our dog and we were bluntly told that no rooms were ready yet. Having worked in hotels for many years I am surprised to hear that you have no clean rooms an hour before check in... we were early though so fair enough and I asked again to check where we could go with our dog (even though I had emailed when I booked weeks ahead as always). After the frosty arrival we were greeted in the bar by a lovely barman who did finally make us feel welcome with our dog. I will add that whilst our dog is very friendly and generally happy to be literally anywhere, he calms very quickly and once we sat in a quiet and secluded area of the bar he calmed instantly. The barman brought our drinks over to us, petted the dog and told us about the menu options available. Considering it was mid afternoon they had a really good range of options available, not jist your usual sandwiches as they have no chefs in the afternoon so the bar staff make the food. Whilst sat in the lounge I noticed we were sat near what was clearly a staff room as I saw staff coming in and leaving with their belongings. For the hour we were sat there, I saw quite a few people who could only be housekeeping (due to the time of day and my knowledge of how hotels operate) leaving shift. Puzzling that housekeeping staff are going home yet an hour before check in you have no clean rooms??? Hmm. So after seeing the grumpy morning receptionist clock out at 3pm, I decided to return to the desk and try again, leaving my husband and dog in the bar. The gentleman on the desk was much friendlier, until my husband arrived with our dog. He had checked a couple into a superior room before me and the service they had was wonderful. The atmosphere then changed and he started sturnly telling us we couldn't go in the restaurant (not where we could actually go) and said that only one of us could now use the spa facilities as we were not to EVER leave the dog in the room on its own. I joked that this wasnt our first time in a hotel with him and if we left him in the room alone he would bark the place down as he has separation anxiety so that wont be happening. I was laughing so clearly a joke, but I thought he was having have heart palpitations. At that point I realised this definitely was not a dog friendly hotel and the Q chain clearly forced them to allow pets. Once I had calmed down the now clearly panicked receptionist I paid the security deposit (all guests pay £50 on arrival) and we went off to our room. The room was gorgeous, well decorated and have very good facilities. Unfortunately though we had no dog arrival pack like most hotels provide, further making us feel unwelcome with our pet. We always bring dog blankets, bowls ext with us anyway so whilst we dont expect or need it, its called a welcome treat for a reason... to make people feel welcome. We brought our stuff in from the car (dont worry, I stayed in the room with the dog whilst my husband brought everything in) and relaxed for a while. After about 20 mins in the room, there was a knock at the door. The receptionist was back, telling us we had to sign a damage form in case our dog damaged anything. Fair enough, although I have never heard of this after staying in many hotels and a 10 year career in hospitality management myself. He also told us we had to have a sign on our door warning guests and staff that we have a dog. Hes a small friendly dog, the worst he would do is jump us whilst trying to pick you to death and savage you with affection. At this point im honestly surprised they didnt whip out a cage and muzzle!! Despite the hostile reception my dog received, we decided to go for a walk and then try the bar again for dinner as its the only place the staff were somewhat friendly. The evening bar staff did not disappoint, saying hello and welcoming our dog when coming to the table with food. Again, we sat in a secluded area so we didnt bother any other guests, we understand that some people do not like dogs and ours is the particularly friendly kind with no sense of personal space if allowed to get close enough (we do not allow this without consent btw). We were not allowed in the restaurant with him, whoch is standard of almost every hotel. My husband joked at the irony after hearing some screaming children in the restaurant and then looking at our dog quietly sleeping and my feet whilst we ate. We snuck pack the reception like a military operation and we back to our room, holding back the urge to ask if they had some cones and red take we could put out just incase the sign we had to put on the door wasnt enough to warm people we had a savage beast with us. Back inside the safety of our lovely room, we enjoyed a lovely relaxing back and had a peaceful sleep in the comfortable bed. In the morning I took our dog our for a toilet trip and little walk around the grounds where we encountered another couple with a dog. The dogs said hello and we chatted politely. They asked how our stay had been and I said apart from the "welcome" it had been lovely. They said they had a similar experience. Between us we had a Cavalier and a Poodle, hardly dogs with bad reputation and were clearly both very friendly with each other and humans alike. Its a shame as its such a lovely hotel and we would have liked to return but the frosty reception staff and attitude towards our dog has really put us off. The food was really good. We skipped breakfast so to not upset any staff further by the presence of our dog and left. The hotel and grounds are lovely, the rooms are great and the food was brilliant at lunch and dinner, the only thing that let's down the hotel are the unwelcoming dog-unfriendly staff. I would highly recommend though to the non dog community.
