5* Hotel
This hotel should be rated a 5* hotel. We booked for the weekend for 71 people for a gala weekend. The hotel facilities are incredible. The rooms are beautiful with everything you need and very comfy. The food is amazing quality throughout at every meal. All the staff are super friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. They helepd organise the whole event and were brilliant. The pool and spa area was lovely. No complaints from the 71 people who attended with us. Looking forward to staying there again soon. Highly recommend.
What a great hotel
Stayed here 20 yrs ago when it was Moat House, it was great then, and all these years later under a new brand, it's even better. Great room, very clean, nice big bed. Staff were great, plenty of smiles and very helpful. Pool and gym areas spot on. We ate in the hotel the first night, and although a little pricey, it came in 5 mins, and was very tasty. Breakfast was great, plenty of options. Great to have breakfast in the restaurant where you can take in the lovely views. Even better when the sun is out Perfect for coeliacs. Would recommend.
Great day with friends
Thank you for a wonderful day. Special thanks to Whitney for a brilliant and much needed massage!
Great stay, great value, will be returning
We stayed at this hotel as a group of 8 for a hen weekend celebration. We were staying on a 2-night dinner, bed, breakfast and treatment package which was fantastic value. On arrival, we had a nice greeting at reception and a smooth check-in process. Everything was clearly explained to us along with directions of where we needed to be in the hotel. We asked before arrival if the rooms could be close together and they were all on the same corridor, which we appreciated. The rooms were nice, spacious, clean, good blackout curtains. It was nice to have a fridge and safe which were free of charge to use. The leisure centre was great - never too busy, a nice pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Ben, who was working on the leisure centre reception desk was extremely friendly and helpful. Included in our package was complimentary robe and towel for the duration of our stay which was very helpful and provided by the leisure centre. Included in our package was a 25 minute treatment and a 50 minute treatment per person. We can't fault the spa or its staff - everyone very friendly, the therapists were experienced, knowledgeable and did some fantastic treatments. We all left feeling very relaxed. Breakfast was a fantastic offering - pastries, full English, toast, fruit, yoghurt, cereals - everything you could possibly want. The only thing that let the experience down slightly was the slow service at dinner on both nights. I think they need more staff working as they clearly had other private functions going on at the hotel and the bar/lobby area was very very busy. However, the staff that were working we can't fault; they were friendly and helpful. While we did wait over an hour for food to arrive on both nights, when it did arrive it was enjoyable and tasty. Enjoyed the stay so much that two of our party have already booked to come back later in the year! Highly recommend.
Treatment room ☺️
Totally recommend Laura G in the treatment room, very professional and courteous. Lovely clean hotel in beautiful surroundings.
Short Family Break
Stayed at this hotel on 28th March for a short break with my Son and 12 year old grandson. When I enquired about our short stay I requested a family room with the possibility of 3 single beds, The receptionist told me that normally in family rooms it is a double and a single, but she said it wouldn’t be a problem to meet our request, When we arrived the hotel looked very welcoming and had a sufficient car park. The hotel seemed quite busy but we were greeted by friendly reception staff who quickly dealt with our booking and allocated us with our room, when we entered we were not disappointed our 3 single beds as promised were made up,widescreen to, tea/ coffee, biscuits, and an iron and ironing board. In the bathroom there was a bath/ shower clean towels and a selection of toiletries. We then set off to try out the Spa, lovely swimming pool which also had a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. towels were also provided. We then went up to bar, the staff there were polite nd chatty, drinks were a bit overpriced but you tend to get this in most spa hotels A goodnights sleep was had by all, before we went down for breakfast, it was a buffet style, with plenty of choices, something for everyone. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you all, totally recommend this hotel and look forward to a return visit soon.
Lots of help to ensure we had a wonderful weekend!
My dear friend and I only get together once a year, since moving to nearly opposite ends of the country. We often go to Bath, but decided to give Cheltenham a go this time. The hotel was very nice, and we booked a weekend package which included a meal and spa treatments. The meal was very nice too, tasty and a good amount. However on our first morning we had a phone call to let us know that due to staff sickness, there wasn’t availability for us to each have both of our treatments as planned. As you can imagine, we were very disappointed. Later on, the spa did manage to arrange treatments, but at different times to each other. As this meant less of our precious time together we came to the conclusion they we would just go without a treatment. But to their credit, Martha, the wonderful hotel manager, arranged for a later checkout and breakfast, so that we could still do our yoga together, have the treatment, and a leisurely breakfast. Martha even gave us a bottle of wine while she worked out how to make the weekend remain special for us, and arranged for some compensation. She truly pulled out all the stops to make sure that we had a lovely relaxing break. I would recommended this hotel and will very likely visit again. PS the spa treatments were amazing!
Another enjoyable stay
This is one of our favourite hotels and we had another enjoyable stay here. Thank you to all the staff that we dealt with who were pleasant and willing to help. Every where felt clean and fresh. It is in easy reach of a number of places to visit both by car and local bus. We were very pleased with our room and its amenities. Lots of choice for breakfast. Already planning our next visit.
Good Hotel, Needs Some Loving!
4 out of 5 Stars. My partner and I booked this hotel for a Relaxing getaway during the Easter Long Weekend. Positives ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - Close to Gloucester & Cheltenham - Despite being a long weekend it wasn't too busy - Sauna and Steam room were good - Gym good and bigger than many other hotels - Pool is a decent size - Some of the reviews mentioned the Jacuzzi not working - I can confirm it is now working! - Beautiful restaurant, good decor. - Great breakfast selection - Beautiful grounds - Room was a good size - Lovely shower, they provide shower gel - Robes are not provided, but towels are - Dog friendly - lots of cute dogs everywhere - The staff were really nice and friendly. Negatives -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - We booked a table at the restaurant for our first night. Despite being half empty, it took a very long time to get any service. We were keen for desserts, but we were forgotten, so we decided to skip them in the end. Several guests had to go and stand by the desk to get the bill and pay because there was no one in the bistro area most of the time (with the exception of a young man ferrying drinks from the bar). I saw the staff often go to the bar section, which makes me think they don't have enough staff to cater for both locations, even on a half-empty restaurant. Food was ok, definitely overpriced. - Enhance your experience booking is confusing - you apply for pre-dinner credit but don't get charged, and then get charged at some point? We cut our meal short due to the waiting time, so it ended up cheaper than the pre-approved credit and paid for the dinner directly - drinks are NOT included in the pre-approved credit. - Maintenance: The hotel would benefit from a 1-week shutdown for some proper maintenance. One of the lifts wasn't working the whole time, and on our last day, the remaining lift also broke. Furniture is worn. Water pumping systems were being worked on whilst we were in the pool, so we ended up with cold water being pumped into the pool. Lots of lockers are malfunctioning or locked in the open position. Overall it's a decent hotel, but for the price it charges, it could use a bit of TLC - Spa Members vs. Guests - this is a common thing in Spa Hotels, where locals can use the facilities with a membership. As guests, some members struck up conversation with us, complaining about how hotel guests are impacting the enjoyment of the facilities... they didn't know, but it makes for an awkward atmosphere, and guests pay good prices because of the spa facilities. There is a bit of entitlement from members in the attitude and how they treat the shared space - we saw a member shout at a hotel guest across the pool multiple times because they hadn't closed the sauna door properly (needs to be pushed until it clicks) - the issue wasn't the message, but how it was delivered, very rude shouting, and embarrassing for the guest, who clearly didn't know. - Spa facilities are not the cleanest; we saw the same tissue in the corner of the pool shower for the duration of our visit. - Some of the rooms are near private doorways where you can hear loud fans and whirring - we stayed in room 146, so it was fine and quiet, but it can be a bit of a Russian roulette! Overall, it has the potential to be a great hotel that lives up to the prices, but needs some Maintenance, better cleaning and more staff. We still had a really good time and would return!
Lovely Property
Beautiful clean property in a good-quiet-location. Excellent-sized rooms. Quite comfortable with a very good breakfast. But the staff came across as a bit cold. Not unfriendly, but a bit indifferent generally. They may just need a pep talk from the management to become the best. I will still visit again.
A comfortable stay, and a convenient location.
We stayed at Cheltenham Chase for a family birthday celebration. It was easy to reach by public transport and in a lovely area (rolling hills to the back, a residential street with some useful shops and a bus route to the front). The room was pleasant and extremely clean. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Food was delicious and the staff were friendly. The minor detractors seemed to be due to them having the decorators in and being very busy. Rooms were not ready on time and we were woken by the decorators starting work. I would imagine that this is rare, and it was a very minor inconvenience.
Enjoyable stay
Friendly staff, lovely big clean room. I especially appreciated the fluffy towels- in so many hotels the towels are worn and somewhat hard, so it was a pleasure to find nice bathroom towels! Swimming pool was a good size and not too busy.
Cheltenham Chase - Great Stay
What a wonderful hotel. From the moment we checked in to checking out, we felt as if we were being taken care of. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a very comfortable stay. Check in was simple and the people at reception were incredibly helpful and gave us all the information we needed. We had a dinner reservation which was really good, plenty to choose from on the menu and the service was good. Very much enjoyed our dinner. The room we were given was lovely, had everything in there that you'd need for an overnight (or longer) stay. The bed was very comfortable and the room was super clean. The towel animals on the bed were a lovely touch and very much appreciated. Breakfast in the morning was delicious with plenty of choice. Both the hot and cold items were delicious and a cup of coffee to set up the day was just what we needed. We really can't fault our stay at all. Check out was very simple too and we were able to continue our journey after a really good nights sleep. A big thank you to the team there at Cheltenham Chase for making us feel so welcome - we will be back :o)
Fabulous experience
I was brought a spa day for my 30th birthday and what a lovely experience it was. The staff were so so friendly, super chatty and very helpful. Ben and Dan (patience of a saint as I kept getting locked out the lockers!!) Sauna and steam room were amazing and so was the jacuzzi (it does work it just turns on for 7 minutes and then off for 7 minutes!). It was not too crowded and the people we did encounter were all members and super friendly too. Our treatments were incredible, Laura G and Jason were so lovely, informative and amazing at their job. Best massage and facial I have ever had. Easy to get to, big carpark and lovely grounds! Overall I cannot wait to come back.
